Sample Answer:

In recent years, there has been a growing debate about whether developing countries like Bangladesh should prioritize industrial development over agriculture in order to achieve better overall development. While both sectors play a crucial role in the economic growth of a nation, I firmly believe that a balanced approach that takes into account the specific needs and resources of each country is the key to sustainable development.

First and foremost, it is important to acknowledge the significant contribution of agriculture to the economy of developing countries. In Bangladesh, for example, agriculture is the largest sector, employing the majority of the population and serving as the main source of livelihood for millions of people. Furthermore, the agricultural sector plays a vital role in ensuring food security and reducing poverty in rural areas. Therefore, neglecting the agricultural sector in favor of industrial development could have detrimental effects on the well-being of a large portion of the population.

On the other hand, industrial development is also crucial for the overall progress of a country. It can lead to technological advancements, job creation, and increased productivity, ultimately driving economic growth. However, it is important to note that industrial development often requires significant investment in infrastructure, technology, and skilled labor, which may not be readily available in many developing countries. Moreover, rapid industrialization can lead to environmental degradation and social inequalities if not managed properly.

Instead of prioritizing one sector over the other, I believe that developing countries should strive for a balanced approach that promotes the coexistence and mutual support of agriculture and industry. This can be achieved through policies that encourage diversification, innovation, and sustainable practices in both sectors. For example, investing in modern agricultural techniques and value-added processing can enhance the productivity and profitability of the agricultural sector, while also providing raw materials for the industrial sector. Similarly, promoting small and medium-sized industries can help create employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth in rural areas.

In conclusion, while industrial development is undoubtedly important for the progress of developing countries, it should not come at the expense of agriculture. A holistic approach that recognizes the interdependence of both sectors is essential for achieving sustainable and inclusive development. By leveraging the strengths of agriculture and industry, countries like Bangladesh can pave the way for a brighter future for all of its citizens.
