Write about the following topic:
Many people believe that individuals over 65 should not be allowed to continue working. Others think that people should be allowed to work for as long as they choose.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
There are differing opinions on whether individuals over 65 should be allowed to continue working or not. Some argue that older individuals should not be allowed to work past a certain age, while others believe that people should be able to work for as long as they choose.
Those who support the idea of individuals over 65 not being allowed to continue working often argue that older employees may not be as productive or efficient as younger workers. They also point out that older workers may take up positions that could be filled by younger individuals, thereby limiting opportunities for the younger generation. Additionally, concerns about health and safety in the workplace for older employees are often raised, as older individuals may be more prone to health issues and injuries.
On the other hand, those who advocate for the right of individuals to work for as long as they choose argue that age should not be a determining factor in someone’s ability to work. They believe that older individuals bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and wisdom to the workforce, which can be invaluable. Allowing older individuals to work also provides them with the opportunity to stay active and engaged, both physically and mentally, which can contribute to their overall well-being.
In my opinion, I believe that individuals should be allowed to work for as long as they choose. Age should not be a barrier to someone’s ability to contribute to the workforce. Instead of focusing on age, employers should consider an individual’s skills, qualifications, and performance. Additionally, with advancements in healthcare and an increasing life expectancy, many older individuals are capable of working well beyond the age of 65.
In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides, I believe that individuals should have the right to work for as long as they choose. It is important to recognize the value that older workers bring to the workforce and to create opportunities for them to continue contributing to society.
