Sample Answer:

In many cultures around the world, the practice of arranged marriages by parents is still prevalent, while in other societies, individuals have the freedom to choose their own life partners. Both systems have their own merits and drawbacks, and it is difficult to determine which one is better as it largely depends on individual perspectives and cultural beliefs.

Arranged marriages, often seen in traditional societies, are based on the belief that parents know their children best and can make the best decision for their future. These marriages are often based on factors such as family background, financial stability, and social status, rather than solely on romantic love. Proponents of arranged marriages argue that they tend to be more stable as they are based on compatibility and shared values rather than fleeting emotions. Additionally, arranged marriages are believed to strengthen family ties and social cohesion.

On the other hand, the concept of choosing one’s own life partner is more prevalent in modern, individualistic societies. This system allows individuals to make decisions based on their own preferences, values, and feelings. It gives them the freedom to explore and understand their compatibility with a potential partner before making a lifelong commitment. However, critics argue that this freedom can sometimes lead to hasty decisions based solely on attraction and infatuation, without considering important factors for a successful marriage.

In my opinion, neither system is inherently better than the other. Both arranged and love marriages have their own advantages and disadvantages. Arranged marriages may provide stability and support from family, while love marriages offer the freedom to choose a partner based on personal compatibility and feelings. Ultimately, the success of a marriage depends on the commitment, understanding, and effort put in by the individuals involved, regardless of how the marriage came to be.

In conclusion, both arranged marriages and love marriages have their own place in different cultures and societies. It is important to respect and understand the traditions and values of each system, and to recognize that the success of a marriage is not solely determined by the method of choosing a life partner, but by the effort and commitment put into the relationship.
