Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
In today’s society, there is an ongoing debate about the responsibilities of individuals towards their community. Some people argue that paying taxes is a significant enough contribution to society, while others believe that individuals have more obligations than simply paying taxes. In this essay, I will discuss both views and provide my opinion on this matter.
Those who support the idea that paying taxes is a substantial contribution to society argue that taxes are essential for funding public services and infrastructure. They believe that by paying taxes, individuals are fulfilling their duty to the community and contributing to the welfare of society as a whole. Additionally, they argue that paying taxes is a legal obligation, and therefore, it is the primary responsibility of citizens towards their society.
On the other hand, there are those who believe that individuals have more responsibilities than just paying taxes. They argue that being a member of society comes with moral and ethical obligations, such as volunteering, helping those in need, and actively participating in community activities. They believe that contributing to society goes beyond financial contributions and that individuals should actively engage in activities that benefit their community.
In my opinion, while paying taxes is an essential part of contributing to society, it is not the only responsibility that individuals have. I believe that being a member of society comes with a range of obligations, including but not limited to paying taxes. Individuals should also actively participate in community service, volunteer work, and other activities that contribute to the betterment of society. By doing so, individuals can have a more meaningful impact on their community and help address the various social issues that exist.
In conclusion, while some people may argue that paying taxes is a significant enough contribution to society, I believe that individuals have more responsibilities than just paying taxes. It is important for individuals to actively engage in activities that benefit their community and contribute to the overall welfare of society. By doing so, individuals can make a meaningful and lasting impact on their society.
