Write about the following topic:
People who have original ideas are of much greater value to society than those who are simply able to copy the ideas of others well. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
I believe that people who have original ideas are indeed of much greater value to society than those who are simply able to copy the ideas of others well. While it is important to be able to understand and apply existing knowledge and ideas, it is the individuals who can think outside the box and come up with new solutions and innovations that truly drive progress and change in the world.
Original thinkers are the ones who push the boundaries of what is possible and create new opportunities for growth and development. They are the ones who challenge the status quo and inspire others to think differently. Without these individuals, society would stagnate and fail to evolve.
On the other hand, those who are only able to copy the ideas of others well may be proficient at implementing existing concepts, but they are not contributing anything new to the world. While there is certainly value in being able to replicate successful ideas, it is the innovators who are the driving force behind societal advancement.
Take, for example, the field of technology. It is the individuals who come up with original ideas and concepts that have revolutionized the way we live and work. From the invention of the internet to the development of smartphones, these original thinkers have transformed the world in ways that would not have been possible if they had simply copied the ideas of others.
In conclusion, while there is a place for those who can effectively implement existing ideas, it is the individuals with original thoughts and concepts who have the greatest impact on society. Their ability to innovate and create new possibilities is what drives progress and change, making them of much greater value to society. Therefore, I strongly agree with the statement that people who have original ideas are of much greater value to society than those who are simply able to copy the ideas of others well.
