Sample Answer:

In my opinion, I believe that high schools that permit students to decide what to wear to school have a better policy than those that require school uniforms. This is because allowing students to choose their own clothing promotes individuality and self-expression, while also preparing them for the real world where dress codes are not as strict.

Firstly, when students are allowed to choose their own clothing, they are able to express their individuality and personal style. This can help to boost their self-confidence and self-esteem, as they are able to present themselves in a way that feels authentic to them. By contrast, requiring school uniforms can stifle students’ creativity and self-expression, as they are all forced to conform to the same dress code.

Furthermore, permitting students to decide what to wear to school can serve as a valuable lesson in personal responsibility. When students are given the freedom to choose their own clothing, they are also given the responsibility to make appropriate choices. This can help to teach them about the importance of dressing for different occasions and environments, which is a valuable skill to have as they transition into adulthood.

Additionally, allowing students to choose their own clothing can also help to prepare them for the real world. In most workplaces, employees are not required to wear uniforms, and are instead expected to dress in a professional and appropriate manner. By allowing students to make their own clothing choices, high schools are helping to prepare them for this reality, and teaching them about the importance of dressing appropriately for different settings.

In conclusion, I believe that high schools that permit students to decide what to wear to school have a better policy than those that require school uniforms. Allowing students to express their individuality, learn personal responsibility, and prepare for the real world are all important reasons why this policy is superior. By giving students the freedom to choose their own clothing, high schools are helping to shape confident, responsible, and well-prepared individuals.
