Sample Answer:

Art is a subject that has been a topic of debate for many years when it comes to its importance in the school curriculum. Some people argue that art is an essential subject for children at school, as it helps in the overall development of a child, while others believe that it is a waste of time and resources. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the argument and then give my opinion on the matter.

Those who support the inclusion of art as an essential subject in school argue that it plays a crucial role in the holistic development of a child. They believe that art helps children to express themselves creatively, fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and promotes cultural awareness and understanding. Additionally, art can also be therapeutic for children, helping them to cope with stress and anxiety. Furthermore, it is argued that art education can lead to improved academic performance and better overall well-being.

On the other hand, those who argue that art is a waste of time in schools believe that it takes away valuable time from more important subjects such as math, science, and language. They argue that the emphasis on art can distract students from focusing on subjects that are deemed more essential for their future success. Additionally, they believe that art does not provide tangible skills that can be useful in the real world and that the resources allocated to art education could be better utilized in other areas.

In my opinion, I believe that art is indeed an essential subject for children at school. It provides a platform for children to explore their creativity and express themselves in ways that other subjects cannot. Art also helps in developing skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and cultural awareness, which are essential for a child’s overall development. Furthermore, art can be a source of joy and relaxation for children, which is equally important for their mental and emotional well-being.

In conclusion, while some may argue that art is a waste of time in schools, I believe that the benefits of including art as an essential subject far outweigh the drawbacks. Art plays a crucial role in the holistic development of a child and should, therefore, be given the importance it deserves in the school curriculum.
